Este es un ambigrama que me mantuvo un tiempo en jaque. Pasé por varias versiones diferentes antes de llegar a ésta, en la que abusé un poco de la forma de las letras, pero que en conjunto se afirman y permiten la lectura (creo) de la palabra (pueden ampliar este ambigrama, haciendo click sobre él). El tablero que aparece de fondo (que fue hecho completamente en Photoshop) lo puse por razones completamente estéticas, aunque no puedo negar que facilita bastante la lectura del ambigrama .
Hace unos días insinué que estaba trabajando en este ambigrama, y que me había traído algunos problemas. Merfat aceptó rápidamente el desafío, y publicó su versión en su blog.

we don't know spanish but we think the word means 'checkers' a game using the board. another series of games - after poker?
we like the board as it is an ambigram in itself too!

I'm glad you noticed how the board is an ambigram itself, I forgot to metion it, because that was one of the reasons I included it.
The word "ajedrez" means "chess", I think "checkers" is the game that we know as "damas".
Sam, vamos a ver que se puede hacer con tu nombre. Te aviso cualquier novedad.

Damas?? in Malay, 'checkers' is known as 'dam' (pronounced 'darm' as in 'arm')! it is interesting to note that although Spanish and Malay two very different languages, there still is a common root word for the words 'damas' and 'dam'..
by the way, the word for 'chess' is 'catur' (pronounced 'cha-toor')..

I agree with you, Nagfa, I'm also surprised by the coincidence. The strange thing is that in spanish and malay both words seem to have a common root, but in english it is completely different...
